RedEndo Firsts

07/26/08 12 AM MST

Nogales, Arizona BMX-only Contest:
RedEndo BMX was the first to throw a BMX-only contest at the Nogales, Arizona Skate Park. The name of the event was "Skike Force One", a play on words that combined "Skate" and "Bike" into the title. Even from the beginning our company has been focused on the BMX in skate parks issue, the #1 barrier to growth in the BMX industry.

Chandler Bike Park Grand Opening:
RedEndo was on hand for the first BMX event in the Chandler SP BMX Bike Park. We flew A.J. Anaya in from Denver, brought Ruben Torres up from Douglas for the Pro Demo, where both riders were featured. A.J. was particularly impressive as he blasted the perfect quarters 8 feet out. Later that day, the City of Chandler thanked us for being on hand, even saying at one point that RedEndo "Saved the Day".

Glendale X-Court Grand Opening:
RedEndo BMX was there to join in the celebration of BMX and Skate together in the same facility in Glendale, Arizona. RedEndo BMX's own Ruben Torres took first at the Glendale X-Court BMX street contest.

Marana Skate Park Demo:
RedEndo BMX met with Tom Ellis and skateboard riders to open the park there to BMX legally. Tom and John Dale worked with Hero Board Shop's Joshua Sluyter to organize a meeting at the park to get feedback from skateboard riders. About 5 riders showed-up along with Josh, John, and Tom. When Tom asked, "Does anyone care if this park is opened to bikes a couple days a week?", one skater replied, "I don't give a [explicative starting with 's' and ending with 't']." Shortly after that, RedEndo BMX sponsored the first ever legal BMX event in the Marana Skate Park.

Arivaca BMX Demo:
After making diplomatic missions to the Arivaca Skate Park to plead the case to allow BMX there, Lance Hansen, the park's designer and builder, announced on his website that BMX was allowed in the park. True to his style of 'ask for forgiveness, not permission', Lance and the Arivaca Community Center bucked the system amidst various external pressures to allow bicycles there. RedEndo was invited to perform a demonstration on the first day bikes were ever allowed into the park with permission.

Bullhead City BMX Jam:
Bullhead City's concrete park was opened to BMX bicycles recently to provide youth a place to practice their sport. RedEndo BMX was invited to participate in the first ever BMX contest at the facility, not to compete, but to give a demo and support the local BMX scene.

Ajo freestyle Park
RedEndo BMX was the first sanctioned BMX demonstration in Ajo's freestyle park.

Santa Rita Skate Park Protest I
RedEndo BMX was the first to protest exclusion from The Santa Rita Skate Park in Tucson, Arizona.

Santa Rita Skate Park Protest II
RedEndo BMX was the first to provide coverage of the second massive protest at The Santa Rita Skate Park in Tucson, Arizona.
